NORTHERN CONTACT

Friendly exchanges between Cumann na mBunscol units in Dublin and Belfast have been going on since the 1930’s. Antrim’s great Kevin Armstrong, Dublin’s, Shane Ryan and Peadar Carton, ‘Busby Babe’, Liam Whelan RIP and a host of other stars have participated in the exchanges over the years. From a Dublin point of view, the visit to Casement Park is very special. The renowned Northern hospitality makes the trip a most memorable day out. Hurling, camogie football and handball teams participate with children selected from numerous schools across the capital. Last year’s trip North was made memorable for the Dublin party by the special welcome received from the newly elected Lord Mayor.
